Bugs can be a peril in the home. For many, they are keen to get rid of bugs but without the need for excessive chemical use. Of course, having a bug free home in the height of summer can seem like an unrealistic endeavour. However, this can be achieved if you follow these handy tips and advice:

1. Invest in Door Screens

For a nominal sum, you can invest in door screens in order to keep your home bug free. These screens can keep out a wide range of bugs. Mosquitoes, flies and bees can all play havoc within the home. While they may not be entirely harmful, they can be something of a pest. In order to keep your home free from unwanted bugs and visitors, you should invest in door screens.

Freedom Screens have stated that an increasing number of people are investing in screens. This is opposed to using harsh chemical bug sprays. This is a more environmentally-friendly option of keeping your home free from perilous bugs. For those that live in areas with a high concentration of insects and mosquitoes, window screens can also be fitted. This is an excellent way of keeping insects out of the home, but enabling you to keep cool during the long balmy summer months. After all, you don’t want to keep your windows and doors closed for the duration of the summer.

2. Seal Windows and Doors

Check your windows and doors for loose sealant. If your windows are in desperate need of re-sealing, this should be done as soon as possible. Resealing your windows and doors with a sealant or mastic will ensure that bugs cannot creep in through the cracks. What is more, your home will be in a high state of repair ready for the cold winter months. Sealing windows and doors has benefits for both summer and winter. It is a cost effective way to keep bugs out of your house.

3. Garden Maintenance

Maintaining your garden is imperative to keeping insects at bay. Rubbish, waste and stagnant water are all attractive to insects and bugs. With this in mind, you should try to clear your yard or garden weekly. Sweeping up debris ensures that there is no place for bugs within your garden.

Pools of water should be emptied or cleaned especially in the height of summer. Eliminating water within the garden or yard is critical to keeping your home bug free during the height of summer. Mosquitoes are especially drawn to water. These can be more than annoying. Take away their natural environment and they will have nowhere to breed and reside. You can enjoy a mosquito-free summer.

4. Empty Your Bins Regularly

Getting rid of any garbage and food matter is critical to keeping pesky bugs at bay. Leftover food will result in a swarm of insects foraging in your bins. You need to make sure that you get rid of rubbish on a regular basis. This will keep your home bug-free and fresh throughout the summer and beyond.
