If you think your kitchen looks boring, it sounds like it’s time for you to give it a fun makeover. We spend more and more time in our kitchens as the years go on. Once just a place to cook, we now do a multitude of things in them. We use them for eating dinner, socialising, doing work, and more! Make yours a fab place to be with these tips...

Create a Feature Wall Out of Something Unexpected

Creating a feature wall is a great tip for any room that needs a makeover, but very much so in your kitchen. You could create a feature wall with your backsplash, or even pick a random wall and make it stand out. Why not create a feature wall out of something unexpected? You could use framed pictures from your favourite book, or even put up some chalkboard paint so you can write notes on the wall!

Add a Patterned Rug

Kitchens usually have smooth floors, either made out of laminate, wood, marble or something similar. This can be cold on the feet, and doesn’t look all that fun. Add a patterned rug to make a huge difference to your kitchen! Choose stars, spirals, or any other pattern you love the look of.

Mix and Match Styles and Colours

Mix and match different colours in your kitchen to give a quirky look, and don’t forget to mix different bits of furniture either. There’s no reason you can’t use a few different colours in your design if you pair them with neutrals too.

Change Up Your Lighting

Lighting can make a huge difference to a room. Because the kitchen is used for so much more than just cooking these days, you may want to include some atmospheric lighting. However, you’ll still need task lighting. Give yourself a great place to chop food by installing a Philips gu10 LED somewhere suitable.

Add Interesting Accessories and Appliances

Add quirky accessories and appliances to make your kitchen stand out. You can buy coloured pots and pans, and even find ovens designed to make a statement! However, you could simply go for retro looking accessories if you wished. It’s up to you whether to go a little quirky or all out madness!

Line Your Draws and Cupboards

By lining your drawers and cupboards with a patterned wallpaper, you stop them from getting dirty and damaged. This also adds a small but noticeable detail to your kitchen decor that looks great! Keep it as neat as you can for the best effect.

Add Shape and Texture

Add shape and texture to your kitchen by picking oddly shaped furniture or pieces with texture. This will give the room depth and make it look more professional.

Don’t Neglect the Ceiling!

The ceiling is important too, so don’t forget to give that a makeover of its own! You could paint it with a pattern, add colour...just use your imagination.

What do you think of these 8 ideas for your kitchen makeover? You can’t deny they’ll add a much needed dose of fun to your space!
