The rustic glam trend is taking the interior design world by storm. This type of decor sees countryside elements fused with luxurious touches. What you end up with is an elegant room that is so classic it will never look dated. One of the best spaces to apply this interior design style to is your living room. Let’s take a look at these top tips on how to create a rustic glam living space.

Colors

The rustic glam style is flexible when it comes to colors. The only thing you should keep in mind is that you are aiming to mix colors that are evocative of the countryside with rich, opulent shades. You could go down the dark and mysterious route by combining deep browns, taupes and grays with emerald green, bronze and black. For a lighter feel, white, cream and stone colors would look fabulous with hints of gold, silver and splashes of light pink and purple. Or, you could combine the two.

Materials

On the rustic side of things, different types of wood will look perfect. Oak, mahogany, cherry and walnut are all excellent choices, but you can work with any kind of timber. Other materials which are evocative of the countryside and would look fantastic in your living space are wicker, terracotta tiles, bamboo, and stone. When it comes to adding some glam features to your living space, opt for lush materials like velvet, silk, suede and satin. Anything that looks luxurious and inviting will work.

Furniture

When it comes to choosing your furniture, you could opt to mix rustic items with glam items. For example, you could have a vintage wooden chest of drawers on top of a luxurious wool rug. Another example of this technique would be a velvet sofa with tree trunk style side tables. However, a slightly different approach would be to look for items of furniture that are already inspired by the rustic glam look. For instance, coffee tables that have a rustic wooden base and a high-quality glass or mirrored top are a fabulous choice. As are wooden or wicker chairs with big, luxurious cushions.

Additionals

The decorative touches that you add to your rustic glam living room will make a huge difference to the overall look of the space. Solid Fuel Stoves are a great idea as they create a luxurious look and warmth to any room but are also resonant with rural settings. Chandeliers, either rustic, glam or a bit of both, will also look perfect. Other touches that can lift your room are pillar candles, candelabras, plants and flowers and glamorous mirrors.

All in all, the rustic glam look is pretty easy to create. It just requires a creative mind and an eye for detail. It can seem daunting when mixing two completely different looks together. However, if you stick to a central color scheme the design will flow perfectly. Look for images online if you need a bit more inspiration. Have fun creating your own rustic glam living space!
