Now that the weather has become cold and harsh, it is time to start thinking about decorating your home. Having warm decorations inside your house, will make you feel cozy throughout the winter months. Let's start with your bedroom. During the cold season, you need to make sure that your bedroom feels warm and comfortable. You will likely spend a lot of time in your room when the weather is bad. That means that you need to make sure that your bedroom is a haven from the cold outside.

Use warm lighting solutions

If you have bright white lighting, your room will feel cold and sterile. Instead, you need to use warm lighting solutions, such as yellow tone lights. You should also make sure that you get rich shades for your lighting. Get lampshades that cover the majority of the bulb. That way, you can prevent the light from your fixtures being too bright for the room. Warm, golden lighting will give your bedroom a warm glow no matter how cold it is. You can get energy efficient light bulbs from most DIY or home stores. Energy efficient bulbs tend to have softer tones than regular bulbs.

Rouge is chic, yet luxurious

Many people will tell you to steer clear of red and rouge. You should ignore those people. During the winter, you need warm colors throughout your interior design. There is no warmer color than red. Choose gorgeous red and maroon tones for your bedroom. You can choose feature pieces to highlight with this color, or use the color as the base for your bedroom. When you use a bold color for your base, you need to make sure you balance it with a neutral tone.

Comfort is key in the winter

Your bed should be the central focus of your room. Some people tend to put their bed up against the wall. Don't do that. Your bed should be in the center of your bedroom so that it is a prominent feature of the room itself. Getting a four-poster bed would be the height of luxury, but you can also get beds with covers over the top of them. You should consider getting a memory foam mattress for your bed so that you are comfortable throughout the winter. Companies, such as Memio, sell a range of mattresses that are ideal for any size of bed.

Consider dark wood furniture

Light wood might look beautiful, but during the winter, you need something a little more striking. Dark wood furniture has a regal, classic quality about it, which many people find alluring. You can get furniture sets from most home stores, and so you can get a bedroom set that matches. Choose dark wood with a varnish so that each item looks luxurious and glossy. You should consider getting a bed that matches the rest of your furniture to complete the look. When you are shopping for bedroom furniture, it is always worth spending a little more than you, usually, would. That way, you can be sure that you get quality products.

Textured fabric looks cozy

Using many different materials in your bedroom will help to make the room look warm. Ensure that you invest in some thick, heavy drapes for your room. You should choose a color that suits the rest of the decor. You might want to choose a dark red color or maybe brown. You should also use rugs, blankets and cushions to create a cozy environment in your home. Don't worry about whether the fabrics match. Having a mixture of different fabric styles is a trend right now and will look incredible.
