Fancy a preview of the interior themes that will be featuring throughout 2015? Of course, you do! We have scoured the interior design magazines and homeware shops for an inside preview into recurring themes. Here are the some interior design trends that will help you get one step ahead.

Ethnic influences

Next year it’s all about ethnic inspired patterns and styles. Interior designers are focussed on Persian and Oriental rugs and intricately patterned upholstery. In terms of colours, warm purples, reds, terracotta and brassy golds are featuring heavily. Some designers have stuck to classic materials and patterns. Others have given them a modern twist using vibrant colours or neutralised them using black and white. If you are inspired by this forecasted trend, you may wish to add a few touches like paisley pillows or an oriental rug into your living space. Leather Moroccan-style pouffes and wooden furniture studded with mother of pearl would also be consistent with this trend. And brightly coloured tiles would work well in your bathroom or kitchen.

Marsala

Marsala is the colour for interior design in 2015. It has a rich, earthy tone which can look extremely elegant. Introduce this colour into your home through individual items or with bold statement furniture. You may wish to peruse websites like http://www.multiyork.co.uk that have incorporated this colour into their range of furniture and home accessories. The colour goes well with other warm, earthy tones but also contrasts perfectly with metallic and neutral shades. It works especially well alongside mahogany wood and brass fittings.

Mix and match

Interior designers are encouraging us to combine a variety of styles, patterns and textures in our homes. We have seen wools matched with silks and traditional embroidery paired with modern prints. Don’t be afraid to fuse the old with the new and the rough with the smooth. If you want to try this at home, a good tip that will help you achieve a level of consistency and cohesion is to stick to a minimal palette. For example, greys and blues are predicted to be popular next year, so you could pair pieces that contrast in style and texture, but that are connected by these common colours.

Velvet

This incredibly soft and luxurious fabric is being featuring heavily in many interior designers work. The material appears in plain blocks of colour on cushions and upholstery. Additionally a lot of velvet prints have been spotted. These are both modern, traditional and ethnic prints. Add a touch of glamour to your living space with velvet cushions or add a little trim to your curtains or bedspread.

We hope you have enjoyed this sneak peek at the hottest interior design trends for 2015. These trends look stunning individually. But the added beauty of them is that they all work well together. Running through all of them are the common themes of exotic, luxury and warmth. Effectively, you could follow four trends all at once. Happy decorating!
