Home Improvement

These days a lot of us find that our homes don’t have the space we’d like them to have. Do you feel a little claustrophobic when you walk into a room? If so then it’s possible you have too much stuff in your place. You need to think about ways you can generate more space. Here are three awesome and easy ways to make a lot more space at home.

Remodel Kitchen

Your kitchen is the most important room of the home. It’s the one room that is often seen as the selling point. Because of this there’s a good bet that you already take steps to make sure it looks great. But kitchen’s can get filled with clutter. Think about how much stuff you have in a kitchen. There’s the food and amenities for a start. But then there’s also cutlery, crockery and utensils, etc to think about. A lot of the time, you might find that the kitchen layout isn’t efficient enough to hold everything you need it to. Your cupboards and draws might be messy and overflowing with stuff. If you’re finding this is the case, it might be time to refit the kitchen. In which case you can go the whole hog and remodel it. Put a hardwood floor down, replace the cupboards and worktops with something more sleek and modern. Try to get trays fitted inside the cupboards where you can store pots and pans neatly. You’ll be amazed at the amount of space you save once you get to work on your kitchen.

Rearrange & Replace Furniture

Another way to create more room in the home is to rearrange the layout of your furniture and replace it if needed. You want to make sure that the furniture in each room's laid out in the most practical and efficient way. You can save yourself a lot of space just by moving the furniture around in each room. It might not have occurred to you before how much space you were wasting. You might want to think about replacing some furniture too. Do the kids have double beds? If they do consider replacing them with single beds and single mattresses. Do you really need that huge corner sofa in the lounge? Try replacing it with a regular three-seater number. It will amaze you at the amount of space you can generate just by changing around your furniture.

Have a Clear Out

At the most basic level, if you don’t have much space at home you’ve probably got too much stuff. This means you need to have a clear out. Sort through all the stuff you have that you don’t use on a regular basis. Decide what you want or need to keep hold of. Everything else should be bagged up and gotten rid of. You don’t have to throw it away. You can always give it away to a charity shop. Or you might even want to think about selling on eBay or by way of a yard sale. Having a clear out is a great way to generate a lot more space. It might surprise you how much space you can clear just from getting rid of a few things. If you live with friends or a partner, you might have duplicates of things. This is exactly the sort of stuff you should get rid of. You don’t need two kettles or toasters. Get rid of the excess clutter taking up space in the home, and you’ll get rewarded with extra space.
